To set off existing concrete retaining walls, the vertical surfaces are set with ledger stone, while both random and cut Bluestone grace upper and lower patio spaces. The centerpiece of the rear yard is a refurbished fountain faced with stone and river pebbles. An upper patio takes advantage of bay views with a glass railing. The lower, front gardens of this hillside home feature both native and ornamental grasses, and shade tolerant plant species. Beyond renovating the ‘primary’ Bambino baseball diamond, the project included improvements of the other three baseball diamonds and the creation of a community park. Several walls and finishes were removed in order to create a flow of space and merging of use. Fir brackets support shelves and the mantel, and stone details recall arts and crafts details, and create a sense of permanence. A built-in bar, media center and storage wall extend the fir detailing.
